I made the great trek across the Pacific to the US for not one but two nerd fests plus a bit of solo nerd festing on the way
Celebration and Dragon*Con were great and so totally different from each other and yet similar.. totally different from the local con and yet similar.... As with most experiences it feels a bit surreal.
A lot of navel gazing has occurred since coming back, some of it discussed, a lot of it will never be. But I am so very happy that those I admire are exactly what I hoped for in person. I would rather have a few people in my circle of friends than fans, and friends at that who can just admire each others work and be at peace. And that was really clear to me even in the haze of really crappy health! Yeah had a few meltdowns and even got to see the inside of an ambulance! My N7 family and Rougie family especially were amazing.
I will say I never expected the kind of reaction to my Darth Talon as I got on Sunday. I misaligned my belly tattos and had actually packed the costume (the armour stacks with Shae Vizla for safe travel) the night before not intending on wearing her again.
I had already seen there was a bit of "been there done that" reaction to a lot of costumes. Not just mine but others as well. So I really stepped out of the elevators expecting to be able to go straight to my photoshoot and come back and remove the paint.
Nope.
Got to the lobby and was asked for a photo and there was a ring formed immediately of flashing lights. Quite crazy. Only experienced that as Catwoman in 06. It happened on all the lobby levels. I seriously was taken off balance by it as I know how much flesh is on display and how many people do body paint and how many people do armour. I was expecting to just fly under the radar.
I was incredibly lucky that Thomas (thecloneemperor) found me and was a true hero that day in wrangling me from the Marriott to the Hilton and back.
My photoshoot was cancelled as Bryan was in a meeting (sadly not a happy outcome) and Thomas again came to the rescue with getting me to meet Lionel and SGH for some really amazing photos. None of them have come online yet but the viewfinder view was brilliant. I really cannot wait to see them and I *hate* photos of me normally. You may have noticed that there are relatively few photos in my gallery
Oh yeah. Other nerdy things: Kennedy Space Center (I have not put my pink NASA hoodie away since I bought it) and whale sharks!!!! That was one of the most terrifying and exhilerating and calming things I have ever done.

Ahsoka Tano- update
Oh boy, I have been very lax here! I have though been working on and off, but getting behind of keeping track of everything.
One of the downsides to trying to do everything yourself- including techniques that really need a team of specialists- is that it vampires all your time and energy!
But I have been using Instagram as my launch for all social media updating as it lets me share to fb, tumblr, flickr, and twitter in one go. So with flickr I am able to share reasonably quickly to forums as well :)
Deviant Art doesn't really have the same format to allow WIP photos, so I tend to use this as a gallery for finished work. So that means prett
Crazy month!
Well my website was hacked. Well, that's a bit more dramatic than it was. But yeah, someone exploited a bit of WP within a day of it being announced as an exploit. Basically someone logged in, deleted my posts and pages (but not the uploads- thank goodness!) and added some lovely malicious content. They deleted my pages so that any link to my site would redirect to the bad content.
Anyway. My hosts don't really like that so shut my site down within an hour from what I can tell. It may have been even faster.
So yes. It was a bit of a shock, and while I know it wasn't personal (it was purely to use my google ranking to get that linkage to the
Sad update
It's been a month and a day since I had to say goodbye to my darling Kitty Boy.
It was only May last year that he had to have surgery to remove the skin cancers on his ears and nose, this was after a failed attempt to freeze them off (they just got more aggressive.) However in the last two weeks of January this year he lost over 2 pounds. While the surgery was very successful it turns out the cancer had changed and he had several aggressive tumours in his abdomen. He had been to the vets many many times in between so it really is very scary how fast these grew and how far from obvious they were.
We had 13 amazing years, which covers a signi
Oh! My own creation too :)
I'm working on a gown that is going to reflect me as an artist a bit. So a tad cliche, but ultimately a little bit not quite one thing or another.
I've sort of talked about all my influences but basically I'm dipping in to a lot of my past and a lot of my interests.
And I've dealt with terrible reaction to allergy to make it!

I'll try and post some updates here as well, it's just hard as it's not a finished project, I'm not sure if "Scraps" gets shared :)

Having seen pictures I think you might have underestimated just how impressive it is, as the reaction you got shows :^)
